27 May 2009
Karingal managers Mark Davison and Jill Reid are among a dedicated group of agency workers preparing to walk from Warrnambool to Geelong in November this year. The 190km Walking Home trek, co-ordinated by the Salvation Army, aims to draw attention to the many causes of homelessness and expose some of the myths surrounding people who are homeless.
Twenty-one agency workers and two secondary school students will participate in the five-day trek; sleeping in tents as they travel.
The walk will end with a party in Geelong’s Johnstone Park on Friday, November 20.
Team leader of Karingal Mental Health Support, Jill Reid, and MatchWorks Regional Manager, Mark Davison, said they had started training for the trek and were looking forward to hitting the road.
MatchWorks is a major sponsor of the event.
