My Own Place DVD launched
21 June 2010
A guide to safe and smart living for people with disabilities was launched by Karingal recently.
The DVD guide titled My Own Place: a guide to safe and smart living for people with a disability aims to provide helpful information to people living independently.
Karingal Board Chairman David McArthur said the DVD was a great initiative by My Own Place, a project established by Karingal in 2006 to assist people with disabilities in the Geelong region to find suitable, long-term private accommodation.
“It’s a very practical way to demonstrate and provide useful information that enhance people’s safety when they move to their ‘own place’,” he said.
Guests at the April 14 launch enjoyed hearing Shane Riley talk about his involvement in the DVD, where he ‘starred’ alongside Karingal staff and other clients of the service.
The DVD was produced with the assistance of the CFA, Life Saving Victoria and Geelong Police.
In conjunction with the DVD release the new My Own Place website was also launched. Visit it at www.myownplace.org.au
