Konnections makeover almost complete

14 April 2011

Progress to give a ‘face lift’ to buildings at Konnections continues to move ahead in leaps and bounds.

• The administration and day service building in Rosebud has received a fresh coat of paint.

• The kitchen at Rosebud has been fully upgraded to include disability access, new benches and additional storage and servery.

• The Konnections horticulture section has new insulation and a new heating and cooling system.

Konnections Manager Sonia Berton said travel time for more than 25 participants living in Frankston has also been reduced as they are now using new service locations at Frankston and Seaford.

“For some people this has meant a reduction of travel time by almost three hours per day,” she said.

“The range of programs on offer at Frankston includes drama, arts, cooking and computer training.”

Sonia said the past six months has seen Konnections staff intensively involved in preparations for the ISO and DHS Quality Accreditation.

“After lots of hard work, Konnections is pleased to announce that it has received accreditation from both bodies.

A remarkable achievement in such a short time frame,” she said. In coming months a new, six-bedroom supported accommodation house will open in Hastings, with residents and staff recently selected.
