Karingal get in the spirit of cycle event
11 November 2010
Karingal got into the swing of the UCI Road World Championships recently by taking part in bike decorating competitions and even volunteering with the official Fleet Management team.
The October event was the largest cycling race ever hosted in Australia, and provided an opportunity for members of the Karingal community to become involved in some extraordinary tasks.
A group of 18 Karingal participants and two staff members volunteered to wash and detail, affix signage and bike racks to all official vehicles for the support crew, athletes and VIPs.
Karingal’s head office in Belmont soon became a prime spot for viewing, as the riverside location featured on the cycling course.
A giant UCI logo was painted on the lawn, aiming to attract aerial attention.
Staff and participants from throughout the many areas of the organisation decorated eight bikes with materials such as streamers, ribbon and spray paint.
Bikes were displayed on the lawn at the front of the building during the week.
More than 50 of Karingal’s corporate and community partners attended the site on the final day of competition to witness the feature event – the men’s elite road race.
Guests enjoyed delicious food provided by Kommercial Catering whilst watching the event from a raised viewing platform.
