KABLE footy team kicks great goals
15 December 2011
Karingal Adventure Based Learning Experience (KABLE) participants were filled with nerves and excited when they joined up with Rec LINK, Barwon Health and the Geelong Salvation Army to start a football team.
Many of the guys hadn’t played footy for years, so they trained hard to get fit.
The games were played on alternate weeks at venues as far away as Sorrento, Old Collingwood and Carlton.
KABLE Co-ordinator Sarah Quick- Scarlett said they had some great teams such as Bendigo finishing in the locker rooms belting out “We are Geelong …”
“A huge thank you to Luke Patterson and the KABLE staff, Barwon Health and The Salvation Army for their persistence, hard work and building the confidence of the young men in our community,” she said.
“Team members James, Bryan, Mark, Scott, Beau, Richard, Alex and Ethan (all pictured) showed amazing team work on and off the field which was encouraged by all, lots of laughs and even a couple of legendary wins.”
