KABLE bike riding group take to the track

17 August 2011

We called ourselves the “SKID MARKS!”  We took on lots of challenges!

Our first challenge would be to pick up the trailer, check all the bikes and tie them down before we could go anywhere. The second challenge was to increase our fitness levels so we could tackle the rides ahead.

It wasn’t long before the Skid Marks were riding up to 10-15km each day.

Everyone had their jobs to do along the way, helping, supporting each other and truly working as a team in a fun environment.

The bike group ventured to a number of places including: the gullies of the You Yang’s, the hard sands of Tragum, BMX tracks in Geelong, the famous rail trail, the Barwon River, Williamstown and even from Portarlington to St Leonards.

The weather was good to us but there were a couple of days the group needed to maintain and repair the bikes ensuring lots of skills were learnt.

We would have to say the biggest and best challenge was who could do the longest skid on the sand at the end of the day!

Now you know why the participants wanted to be called the “Skid Marks”.
