Free Sunday travel changes

13 October 2009

A personalised myki card will be issued to people who currently travel for free on public transport on a Sunday when the new public transport ticketing system is introduced later this year.

Recently the State Government introduced free travel on a Sunday to disability support pensioners and carer payment recipients under 60.

While the new myki cards can be programmed with the free travel on Sunday, a decision has been made to issue all registered Sunday Pass holders with a personalised myki free of charge.

People already registered for the free travel Sunday will automatically receive their free myki card in the mail.

However, clients wishing to apply for the free Sunday travel are being urged to do so as soon as possible if they would like to participate in getting their myki in the mail.

People wishing to apply for free travel Sundays can do so at premium stations, staffed V/Line stations, MetShop or Metcard retail outlets.
