Colac farmhouse improvement takes shape

MatchWorks’ Colac has recently completed a Work for the Dole Activity in conjunction with Karingal’s Colac Farm House.
The MatchWorks participants were involved in enhancing and maintaining the outdoor areas and facilities at the farm house to create a pleasant and interactive environment for Karingal participants to use.
A large walk through bird aviary with breeding boxes and seating area was built creating an inviting area to relax or interact with the farm animals.
The MatchWorks participants also laid a brick pathway leading to the aviary.
Other works included general garden maintenance and fence painting.
This activity has benefited the Work for the Dole participants by enabling them to gain or build on their skills and practice work place ethics to assist in gaining full time or part time employment in the community.
They also gained basic knowledge and insight into the disability industry and experienced community spirit through working on the project.
