Kommercial excel to win cafe bid

Kommercial has won the tender to take over the operation of the Shell Refinery food service. This is their fourth industrial cafe, including two at CSIRO AAHL. The Shell operation will be a similar size to Kommercial’s Alcoa café and will service around 1000 on-site personnel daily. Kommercial will start at Shell on December 1 with 15 more staff to be employed, including eight supported employees.

Jenna enjoys scooting with independence

Jenna Bailey is now enjoying shopping on her own and a whole lot more after she got her new scooter. The Konnections participant said her cerebral palsy made walking long distances challenging, but the scooter, acquired through the Konnections op-shop, had changed her life.

MatchWorks gets star for performance

MatchWorks has received very pleasing early results at the completion of the first year of its new Job Services Australia (JSA) contract. The first round of JSA Star Ratings were released by the Federal Government in August. The Star Rating system measures all JSA providers across Australia in terms of abilities to help unemployed people get back into work.

Keen supporters at All Abilities Netball

The Geelong Football League (GFL) Access for All Abilities Netball Competition proved a great success with more than 200 people packing The Arena to watch Bell Post Hill and Grovedale go head to head for the title. Bell Post Hill took out the grand final on September 12, in what was a tight game with five goals to three.

The Annual Billy Cart Race at Konnections was a resounding success with more than 70 clients, family members and staff attending the day. The billy carts were made by various program participants at Konnections with some being built over a twelve-month period.

Upgrades at Konnections well underway

Facilities at Konnections are currently being upgraded in a bid to increase accessibility and enhance the overall appearance and amenities of buildings. Konnections manager Sonia Berton said 12 news buses had replaced old vehicles, and the hospitality work skills kitchen at McDowell Street, Rosebud was upgraded in early July with two new commercial stoves, stainless steel benches and flooring installed.

MatchWorks staffer shortlisted for award

MatchWorks Employment Consultant Rachel Barry has been nationally recognised for her achievements in helping people who have faced huge hurdles to employment as part of the 2010 National Employment Services Association (NESA) Awards for Excellence. She travelled to Sydney in August to accept her award from the Federal Minister for Employment Participation, Mark Arbib.
