Greetings,
This has been a year of ongoing success and further growth for
MatchWorks. Our Job Network and Personal Support Programme have
continued to provide assistance to over 12,000 people throughout
Geelong and the western suburbs of Melbourne. Our new
contracts for Work for the Dole involve assisting community
organisations to set up and deliver projects which provide valuable
work experience and skills to job seekers and benefits to local
communities. Congratulations also to Kristie
Yarwood, specialist disability employment consultant from
MatchWorks Sunshine, for being selected as a finalist in the
National Employment Consultant of the Year awards. I would
also like to take this opportunity to wish you Seasons Greetings
from all the staff at MatchWorks. Good luck with your job
hunting. Kind Regards, Julie Graham, General
Manager

They say you can't judge a book by its cover but many
of us make judgements about people just based on their
telephone speaking voice?
People form opinions and
make judgements about us in the first 60 seconds they see us.
People also make judgements about us based on the way we sound
on the telephone.

Elvio
Surdich Business Development
Officer Corio
How long have you been with
MatchWorks? Five years. I started at St Albans as a BDO
and worked there for 2 years and then moved to Corio. I am now
based at the Geelong office.
How and why did you
become a BDO? I have been involved in management and
sales for most of my working life and I like networking and
working with employers.
What attributes do you
have that make you successful at your job? Empathy and
understanding, but the most important factor of all is my
maturity.
What do you like most about your
job? The most rewarding part about my work is placing a
willing client into work and helping them to get back to
normality and increase their self esteem. I also enjoy
interviewing and meeting young job seekers and helping them
understand the importance of interviews and how they should
present themselves.
What tips do you have for
job seekers? Never give up. Don't think that you will
find the perfect job the first time. Remember that it is far
easier to be employed into a better job if you already have a
job. |
