Karingal expands to North East Melbourne
Karingal has started an exciting new chapter, offering services
and supports for people with a disability in the North East
The expansion, which started July 1, coincides with the rollout
of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in the area.
Karingal Foundation and Karingal BacLinks combine
The Karingal Foundation has combined with Karingal BacLinks in a
new-look department that will continue to link with the community,
fundraise and develop partnerships that benefit Karingal clients
and promote a fully inclusive community.
Karingal Chief Operating Officer Brandon Howard was looking
forward to seeing the development of the new department.
Elder abuse forum
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was recognised on June 15 when
Eastern Hub Geelong hosted The Geelong Elder Abuse Forum.
Top honour for Daryl at state disability awards
Former Karingal Chief Executive Officer Daryl Starkey was
recognised at the Victorian Disability Awards with induction onto
the Lifetime Achievement Honour Roll.
The Lifetime Achievement category recognises exceptional
individuals who have made a significant contribution over the past
20 years and demonstrated an outstanding commitment to empowering
people with a disability and improving outcomes for people with a
Clubhouse hopes to welcome new members at new base
With a new home, Geelong Acquired Brain Injury Clubhouse (GABIC)
founding member Amanda Gordon-Young says the group is hoping to
welcome new members.
The clubhouse has moved from Pakington Street to the fully
inclusive Eastern Hub Geelong, hosting weekly meetings for people
in the Geelong region with an acquired brain injury.
