Ford-Barwon Water Revegetation
The Ford Motor Company recently showed their support for our community by providing teams of employee volunteers to undertake revegetation works alongside the Barwon River in key riparian areas near the Breakwater Bridge.
Plantings such as this one undertaken by 12 volunteers from Ford Geelong plant are vital to the survival of the diverse range of native flora and fauna in these areas by providing an essential source of food and shelter, and also by reducing erosion of the river bank.
For the volunteers, the day was hard work but very enjoyable and rewarding, as they prepared the areas and planted over 500 plants, trees and shrubs especially propagated in the Barwon Water Nurseries for their suitability to the area.
