Karingal and St Laurence are merging into a new organisation called "Karingal St Laurence" (KSL).

 

KSL will bring together services that both organisation have offered for many years and will offer a new level of advocacy and support for people with special needs. It will deliver increased certainty for consumers by securing its services for many years to come, and will reinforce KSL as an innovative and progressive leader in the disability, aged care, employment, training and housing sectors.

Job seekers graduate from Bendigo’s Deadly Yakka

Ten Indigenous job seekers were congratulated this week for graduating from the MatchWorks Deadly Yakka program in Bendigo. The participants graduated from the four-week employment program on December 7, which covered goal setting and personal development, life skills for work, interview skills, presentation advice, workplace expectations and job search skills; while also addressing personal barriers.

MatchWorks job seekers have helped create a community garden which exhibits traditional and contemporary bush food plants at the Melton Botanic Gardens. Job seekers worked alongside the Friends of the Melton Botanic Gardens (FMBG) over six months to create the Native Bush Foods Garden. They also revegetated the south bank of Ryans Creek with indigenous plants.

Queensland Deadly Yakka motivates Indigenous Job Seekers

Indigenous job seekers in Queensland have recently completed a week-long MatchWorks Deadly Yakka program to assist them in finding employment. The 15 program participants were congratulated and presented with awards at a graduation ceremony held on Friday December 2 at Pine Rivers Golf Club, Kurwongbah.

Program provides holistic approach to finding employment

Fun soccer activities and nutritional sessions have been built into a specially-designed program to assist job seekers to find employment. The City Pathways program - which started on October 12 - is a Melbourne City Football Club (MCFC) and MatchWorks initiative that encourages job seekers to link wellness with finding employment.
